About JD Hopper
Meet JD Hopper — Founder of JD Childcare
JD Hopper is the founder of JD Childcare, a Charlotte-based service providing tutoring, mentorship, and high-quality childcare. With years of experience as a full-time caregiver, academic coach, and youth mentor, JD has built a reputation for combining structure, warmth, and enrichment in every setting.
JD’s path into education and childcare was far from ordinary. After graduating from UNC–Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics and beginning a career in consulting, he discovered his true calling was not in a boardroom but in guiding and teaching children and teens. Since then, he has devoted himself fully to education and care, blending leadership skills with a passion for helping young people grow in both character and academics.
Through JD Childcare, JD has worked with children from infancy through adolescence—tutoring math and study skills, mentoring students, and supporting early learning milestones—while also leading programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters and youth ministry at Covenant Presbyterian Church. His approach focuses on four pillars: cultivating academic curiosity, strengthening social-emotional health, promoting wellness and healthy habits, and nurturing character and leadership.
Today, JD leads JD Childcare as both a trusted private tutor and an experienced caregiver, and when unavailable, he helps families connect with other sitters and tutors he knows personally. Families know that whether JD is teaching, mentoring, or providing care, they can expect safety, reliability, and meaningful enrichment.
At its heart, JD Childcare is about helping children and teens thrive academically, emotionally, and socially while giving parents true peace of mind.
